“How do you put yourself in a position so that you can allow ‘what is to be’?” – Ram Dass

The piece Naturally, Dying: Spring is meant to serve as an enclosure that invites visitors to simply exist within.

Naturally, Dying is an homage to the transitory and cyclical nature of life. Biomaterials lend themselves poetically to this concept because of their temporary nature. Like any living thing, the materials breathe, morph, fade, and constantly change their form. Inspired by the interplay of light with natural and man-made materials—such as spring flowers and the glass windows of industrial buildings in Brooklyn—the piece blends the structured aesthetic of urban architecture with the organic, unpredictable hues of spring.

The four biomaterial sheets are dyed with beet and home grown spirulina.

This has been an attempt to connect – with myself, the immediate world around me, and the materials.
